Aussie 'Wildman' set to rock Ruapuna

The self professed 'Wildman' of Australian Sprintcar racing Allan Woods is set to make his New Zealand debut when he takes part in the forthcoming  'Sprintcar Summer Slam' at Equus Ruapuna Speedway, Christchurch on January 21 and 22.
Forty year old Woods is one of the front runners on the popular Queensland Sprintcar circuits, and has decided to take a break from his hectic schedule to take part in the weekend of racing at Ruapuna that includes the 'Salute to Goodie' and Gold Cup events.

Although these races are the most lucrative Sprintcar events in the South Island, Woods has already said that its not the money on offer that has attracted him here, but the opportunity to win the prestigous Gold Cup, saying "Lets be honest. The kiwi dollars worth nothing, but If I can come over and show the New Zealand drivers how to race, then I'll be happy."

Wood's is bringing his own car to Ruapuna, and his entrance to the New Zealand scene has been initiated by Edge Parts and Performance of Christchurch.

A number of front running North Island drivers including former national champions Dean Brindle (Hamilton) and Jamie MacDonald (Auckland) have already confirmed their intention to travel south for what is likely to be the highlight of the South Island Sprintcar racing calendar this summer.
